Update to the Constitution and new Policies
GCDT (and as Glengarry Community Woodlands) has been in operation now for over 10 years. During that period we have worked with the community to deliver a range of projects and services. We have an ambitious plan for our future and the future of the Glengarry community - view the Community Action Plan (CAP) here.
Our current constitution, which is the document that gives GCDT powers to act and details who can be a member and how they can vote, is also 10 years old, having been unchanged since the beginning.
The Board plan to update the constitution and introduce a number of clear policies which will guide how the Board, its Directors and members should operate and behave.
These changes are in step with other community development trusts and are designed to ensure membership eligibility is open and transparent. We also want to make sure the process for appointing Board Directors is open and transparent, with clear rules for voting and proxy voting.
Overall, the changes are intended to ensure GCDT's powers are sufficient to deliver everything the community asks of it.
The draft document and policies can be downloaded here:
Our Board and Membership
The GCDT is led by our Board Members, who are local volunteers dedicating their time to setting our strategic direction and ensuring every decision benefits the people of Glengarry.
Our board members work to ensure that our organisation is strong and can meet the challenges that our community faces. If you'd like to get involved as a Board Member, we are keen to hear from you. Please contact chair@glengarry.org.uk
We welcome applications to Membership of the Trust. Please take a look at our dedicated page for more information including our Articles of Association and application form.
We are proud that our structure is community-led, meaning the people who live here drive the vision for our future.
